Almost a year and a half into the pandemic, PSP’s Brad Bowyer is still insistent on sharing dangerous opinions and misinformation with regard to public health safety and more importantly, the vaccination programme.
Anti-Vax Views A Year Ago
After contesting in GE2020 as part of the PSP team in Nee Soon GRC, Mr Bowyer began to voice his distrust in the Covid-19 vaccines, and Safe Management Measures. Most of what he had shared received backlash from not just his fellow party members, but also anyone on the internet sensible enough — to understand why a pandemic would force a country to close up for public safety’s sake, and accelerate the deployment of vaccines.
The fact that Facebook took down his original post, is in itself an indicator of the falsehoods Mr Bowyer had shared on his post. Despite that, he still thought he would share a post to talk about how his questions were “fair” and “asking for evidence and justifications”, even though Covid-19 statistics are available for public access on the MOH website.
Brad Bowyer Maintains His Anti-Vax Stance
Since then, Mr Bowyer has shared more than a handful of posts just in the month of July, detailing his thoughts on the vaccine whilst discouraging Singaporeans from taking the vaccine. This is surprising given that a lot more information on the vaccine has been made available as compared to a year ago. People all around the world are all rushing to get vaccinated so the world can go back to some form of normalcy.
Not to mention that a simple google search will tell you that these mRNA Covid-19 vaccines have in fact, been a result of research that scientists have done on different coronaviruses years before the pandemic struck. Making it something that epidemiologists and scientists were able to pick up off, and not what Mr Bowyer makes it out to be — an emergency vaccine.
In most of his posts, he calls the government “evil” for pushing a vaccine with “harmful side effects”, which we know of course is extremely rare and treatable in most cases. He has also been talking about how “exercise, sunlight, followed by a healthy meal” is his best anti-viral, which sounds creepily similar to something one might see being circulated on the boomer’s most popular educational institution — WhatApps University.
Comparing Our Government With The Nazis
If you weren’t entertained by Mr Bowyer’s Facebook posts yet, you may have missed subtle comparisons he made between our Government and the Nazis back in the day.
If you just scroll a little further down his page, you’ll also find this little nugget of a reference on this other post which details his personal frustrations with the dine-out rule differences between the vaccinated and unvaccinated population in Singapore.
Specifically, he says “Maybe we should just get all mRNA unvaccinated to wear yellow stars?”. This was in a reference to another aspect of Nazi Germany’s history; The Nazis in Germany and throughout German-occupied Europe implemented the yellow star as a means to publicly identify, humiliate, and isolate Jews.
On his recent post, Brad shared what looked like a meme he made about the holocaust — the systematic state-sponsored killing of six million Jewish men, women, and children and millions of others by Nazi Germany.
It’s extremely puzzling as to why Mr Bowyer is so hellbent on demonising the Government by portraying its attempts to keep the pandemic situation here under control, and its people safe. From where we’re sitting, this just looks like Mr Bowyer’s attempt at being closer to his coloniser ancestors, with his constant attempts to gain control of the narrative in Singapore for his personal interests. We’re in 2021 now, maybe we should stop listening to everything a British man has to say.
Mr Bowyer Finally Resigns, With No Thanks To WakeUpSingapore
Plot twist: WakeUpSingapore doesn’t get their way.
In another attempt to cancel something they don’t agree with, WakeUpSingapore put up a post, tagging PSP’s ex-Chairman Dr Tan Cheng Bock to sack Mr Bowyer for his dangerous sentiments on vaccination.
However, it seems like Mr Bowyer’s latest Facebook post finally did it. Calling the Government Nazis, and insinuating that the vaccination efforts are very much similar to Nazi Germany’s holocaust — crossing a line and striking a nerve that pretty much sealed his fate.
Well, all’s well that ends well. Hopefully, Mr Bowyer will enjoy more time exercising, spending time in the sun, and having his healthy meals. Spoiler alert: nobody will miss this guy, certainly not his PSP colleagues who already have their hands full with Mr Leong.
